If you have to go to have it styled – buy the equipment and do it yourself (flat irons etc.) Go to a store like Sally’s Pro Beauty Supply and purchase good equipment. Find sales and coupons to cut the cost.
Shampoos and other hair supplies: We found a store called Beauty Brands which is similar to ULTA (bank teller mentioned it to me when I asked where her hair was done). They had a sale of 40% off. I went and it was like heaven. 2 big – 33oz bottles of shampoo conditioner for 10 bucks each. I mean Color Me SEXY is 42.50 a bottle normally. REDKIN was normally 22 and those prices aren’t bad for that much product.
You don’t have to resort to buzz cut Hair Cuts, Styles, Perms, Coloring ETC.
WEll you CAN learn to color at home . Perms I don’t’ recommend doing at home… consider going without perm and using product for volume and rollers more often
Learn to trim your own bangs, and how to style your own hair. Look up videos online.
Have Maintenance done at your local Beauty School, or Beauty College. to do this you need TIME and OBSERVATION SKILLS.
Talk to the Head of Beauty School – ask for several girls that are good in certain areas, coloring vs. haircut etc.
Go in and have your makeup or fingernails done first. Sit and watch some of the girls and see if you notice any that seem really good.
Start small with a trim.
Our hair trims and some styles cost .00. That ranges from basic haircut to adding style for 50 cents more. The ability to choose stylist from students wisely can save HUNDREDS of dollars over a year. WE had daughter’s hair done for prom for .00. A manicure for .00 and makeup for .00. We were still well under what a normal haircut would have cost us. Prom Styling at most salons was 60.00. Through that process we then moved on to haircuts and found a girl that was quite good. My tip is always bring a stash of your own hairspray and styling products, just in case the student’s product is missing in action.
Save those Euros and your $ $ $ If you absolutely can’t go the beauty school route then find coupons. If you know where you like your hair done ask them where discounts are to be found. Try to find alternatives that are less costly but still look good , get the help of your stylist in saving money. Ask her to teach you how to use that flat iron or curling iron correctly. Ask recommendations on hair color.
You can save money and you don’t have to sacrifice looks. Know your limits and take good notes!

Mid of 2008, in the evening, right after our annual family affair, my head started to itch terribly, I wonder why? I took a shower and shampoo my hair the next day to help relieve the itchiness. And yes, it did help. A week after, I noticed a bald patch on the right side of my scalp. I just ignored it. Maybe , I thought it was brought about by my vigorous scratching, until one day.
I noticed that every time I took a bath, strands of hair kept on falling. For the second time, I ignored it. I always told myself then , that it was just ok because I have always had thick hair, nothing could possibly go wrong. As days go by, my hair was thinning horribly. I had lost almost 70 percent of my hair. Yeah, I know what you are saying, Why did I wait that long to go to the doctor. My apologies. So there, I decided to go to a doctor.
I told what happened. Prior to our annual outing, swimming that is, I dyed my hair. I took the plunge on the pool without thinking that the chlorine would be harsh to someone whose hair had been dyed. The doctor advised me to take some lab tests. When I got the results, they were all normal. It all pointed to my carelessness, to my being irresponsible as to the effect of harsh chemicals on my hair. Almost every week, I got injections to stimulate the blood on my scalp. The doctor also advised me to eat gelatin, It is rich in protein that would help in the restoration of my damaged hair roots. I had also done some research to fasten the growth of my hair. One thing that was effective on me was castor oil. Four times a week, before I went to sleep, I would apply a liberal amount of Castor oil added to a regular oil on my scalp. In less than a month, hair started to grow to the surprise of my doctor.
Now, every thing is back to normal. I have learned my lesson well. Never put harsh chemicals on my hair, And always, always, take care of myself because no one else will.
